Rovers had a half chance in the 1st minute when Daniel Kindlan was set free on the left but his parting shot was well over the visitors bar and that just about summed up the attacking prowess of the Rovers for the rest of the day.
The match fell flat for a long spell in the first half before Benburb took the lead in the 23rd minute after Rovers lost possession in the Bens half, three passes later and the ball was in the Rovers net for 1-0 to the visitors.
Jonny Grier in the Rovers goal brought off a fine save in the 30th min from another Bens break but he was beaten again in the 38th minute and the visitors took a 2-0 lead in to the half time break.
The 59th min saw Rovers again lose possession in the middle of the park and again they paid a heavy price when the Bens attack produced a 3rd goal, this was quickly followed by a 4th as the home side looked all at sea.
Rovers were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute when Gordon Murphy was brought down on the edge of the Bens area and Ian Watt drilled the ball home for the only highlight of the day for the home supporters to make the score 4-1.
This was a false dawn for the home side as they then proceeded to lose poor goals in the 82nd 84th and 85th minute to give a final score of 7-1 and give the home side as humbling a defeat as they have had in a long time.
