Match Report

Carluke Rovers rang the changes by releasing a number of players midweek following a succession of recent defeats and brought in three new signings to face Ardeer Thistle.

New keeper David Cherrie, utility player Dominic Chedu and striker Kieran Lafferty all started and played their part as Rovers returned to winning ways with a convincing 5-0 home win against their Ayrshire opponents.

Lafferty opened the scoring for Rovers after eleven minutes following fine footwork from the ever industrious Mark Cassidy on the left wing who turned Ardeers right back inside out and ran along the by- line to place a pass to the front post which was deftly flicked into the net.

Cassidy then had three great chances in the space of 5 minutes to extend Rovers lead but lacked composure and accuracy of shot placement with the goal seemingly at his mercy on each occasion.

With five minutes of the first half remaining Rovers went two ahead when Kane found Lafferty with a neat through ball on the front edge of the box who then squared a pass to Biggart who side footed the ball past the outstretched keeper into the net from point blank range.

Rovers scored another two almost identical headed goals at the start of the second half from inswinging corners delivered by Sam Biggart onto the heads of McAllister then Watson.

With ten minutes remaining Lafferty scored his second goal of the afternoon linking with Haley on the front edge of the box to jink inside his marker and curl a left foot shot into the net from 15 yards.
