The home side entertained Scottish cup finalists Pollok in front of a very healthy crowd at the John Cumming Stadium and while not getting anything positive by way of a result they did give a good account of themselves.
The visitors put Rovers under pressure early on but it was in fact the home side who created the first chance when Chick McCole broke down the right before playing the ball back to Ian Watt but the strikers shot was blocked, Pollok broke from this to create their first chance but the effort was well over the Rovers bar.
Pollok had a good spell of pressure from this point and cut Carlukes defence open in the 19th min but Jonny Grier brought off a good save to keep the scores level, a Scott Bellew error allowed Polloks next chance a few minutes later but when the ball was driven across goal there were no takers and the ball went harmlessly wide.
As the first half drew to a close Pollok took the lead when Robbie Winters who had been pulling the strings for them fed the Ball out to Hepburn on the left and his shot found the top corner of Griers net for 1-0 in 39 mins, worse was to follow for Carluke though when they gave away a free kick on the right and a cross ball from Hanlon eluded Grier for a second Pollok goal in as many minutes to give a half time score of Carluke Rovers 0 v 2 Pollok FC.
The second half saw Carluke survive a scare early on when Pollok hit a shot from close range off the post with the rebound falling kindly for them before being slammed against the other post again falling kindly for them but the loose ball was then blasted high over the bar keeping the score at 2-0.
Carluke had a wee bit of pressure from this point and produced a good chance when they worked the ball well down the right ending with Watt getting to the bye line but his cut back was cut out and another chance was lost.
Carlukes chances were all but killed off in the 66th min when Craig Stark was given a second yellow card resulting in his ordering off but they did go on to create a few chances although none of them was converted.
The best of these came in the 68th min when Bellew set Darren Hamilton free but his strike crashed of the bar with Watt just missing the target from the loose ball.
The last couple of chances also fell to the home side as the match drew to a close when first Hamilton saw his chip shot go just wide then a Lewis McDougall free kick found Watt but his effort was also wide.
