Scottish Cup – Preliminary Round 2

Our journey in the “Big” Scottish Cup has already seen moments of real drama and heroics.

In 2023, our first venture into the competition ended in heartbreak as we let slip a 2 goal lead against Dalbeattie Star, with strikes from Ciaran McGurn and Dom Small not quite enough after going down to 10 men and eventually losing 3-2 in extra time. A valiant effort against higher-level opposition.

Last year, the team showed incredible spirit. Ben Patterson’s double against Golspie Thistle set up a First Round Proper tie away to Buckie Thistle – a side who had faced Celtic at Parkhead the previous season. Our co-captain Ross Steele put us ahead and gave the Highland League outfit a real scare, with Buckie needing until the 94th minute to edge through. A truly heroic performance.

This Saturday, we travel to Meggetland to take on Tynecastle, of the East of Scotland League First Division. Once again, we step into battle as underdogs against higher-league opposition. It’s sure to be a tough match – and we’ll need to be at our very best.

Time for Heroes.
