Before kick off this game was described as a close encounter of the promotion kind with both teams chance of gaining the third promotion berth hanging in the balance with the losing team effectively dropping out of the hunt.
The opening ten minutes saw both sides willingness to go on the attack with Rovers almost opening the score in the third minute when Lafferty was a millisecond away from getting on the end of a Grierson cross as he launched himself at the ball as it flashed across the penalty area.
Rovers pressed the home sides defence mixing attacks from both wings and more directly through the middle of the park with veteran captain Mark Weir almost open the scoring after fifteen minutes when his 30yard goal bound shot was turned round the post by the home sides keeper.
After another five minutes of sustained pressure Carluke opened the scoring after the home keeper had two attempts at hauling down Craig Grierson inside the box with Weir sending the keeper the wrong way with the spot kick.
Thorniewood then created two excellent scoring chances with their striker one on one against Rovers keeper but inexplicably flicked the ball past the post from 3 yards out then one minute later with the goal gaping curled a close range shot round the post.
On the half hour Rovers almost extended their lead when a 25 yard shot from Sean McKenna was pushed round the post with the remainder of the half witnessing a see saw of attacks from both sides resulting in half a dozen missed chances in front of goal.

The second half continued as the first has ended with Rovers Larkin coming agonisingly close to extend Rovers lead as he met a Biggart cross in front of goal with his shot blocked on the goal line with the follow up effort going over the bar.
On the hour mark the home side then had Carluke under the cosh and equalised from a near post corner as it was headed towards goal deflecting off three players before the ball nestled in the back of the net.
Rovers struck back almost immediately when a long throw from Chedu was launched into the penalty area straight onto the unmarked Lafferty’a head who made no mistake as he flicked the ball into the net.
On 70 minutes Larkin prodded home a Weir free kick which had squirmed on the sodden surface through a ruck of players to put the visitors 1-3 in front and with five minutes remaining a Kane cross from the right was turned into his own net by a Thorniewood defender.
