Match Report

Rovers rounded off their season with a home defeat in this Central League Cup tie against league division 1 side Rossvale.

Carluke fell behind early in the match after failing to clear a Rossvale attack and Seaton scored to make it 1-0 to the visitors after 5 mins, this was followed by a Forbes free kick in 20 mins to double this lead.

After this slow start Carluke did drag themselves back in to the match with their first chance coming from an Ian Watt free kick but this was well over the Rossvale goal then the same player was set up by a well worked move but his well placed shot was put over the bar by Bannister in the Rossvale goal.

The home side continued to dominate the game and found a breakthrough in the 34th min when another well worked move ended with Chick McCole going wide on the right and his low cross was driven home by Watt for 2-1.

Rovers continued to create chances with Watt setting up strike partner Greg Fernie but his effort was blocked by the Rossvale keeper then in stoppage time Watt looked to head home the equaliser but another fine save kept the score at 2-1 to the visitors at half time.

The second half saw Carluke struggle to make much headway against the strong wind and Rossvale scored a quick 3rd goal in 49 mins when Holmes nipped in front of the Rovers defence to make it 3-1.

Dan Tobin brought off a good save in the 83rd min to keep Rovers in the game but he was unable to prevent a 4th Rossvale goal in stoppage time when Seaton scored again to round of the scoring at 4-1.
