Match Report

Carluke Rovers travelled to East Kilbride today hoping to get their league campaign back on track with a victory.

East Kilbride themselves have been going through some difficult times with the recent resignation of their manager.

The game started quietly enough with both teams feeling each other out. It was East Kilbride who carved out the first chance when their No 9 beat the offside trap and bore down on goal but fortunately for Carluke keeper Josh McGill pulled off the save, something he has been doing consistently all season.

Carluke created their first opportunity in the 10th minute when a curling shot from Christy Lawlor curled past the upright of the East Kilbride goal.

East Kilbride were starting to exert pressure as the half worn on and had a couple of chances which were again saved by McGill in the Carluke goal.

However in the 16th minute East Kilbride broke the deadlock when their dangerous No 9 received a through ball. Although he looked offside the Referee waved play on and he rounded McGill and coolly slotted the ball into the empty net to make it 1-0.

Eat Kilbride were on the front foot now and created another couple of really good chances which McGill saved well but just as Carluke were hoping to get in at 1-0 down East Kilbride got their second in the 43rd minute.
A corner came in from the right and with his back to goal East Kilbride No 9 turned and hit an unstoppable shot into the back of the net to make the halftime score 2-0.

The second half was a more muted affair with both teams more evenly matched but the best couple of chances did fall to East Kilbride but were again expertly saved by McGill.

The game petered out in the end with East Kilbride winning 2-0 and leaving Carluke still looking for their first points of the season.

Next Saturday Carluke have a home game against local rivals Royal Albert at the John Cumming stadium with a 2pm kickoff.
