Match Report

Carluke travelled into Easterhouse on Tuesday night for this West of Scotland league game. It was a game Carluke needed to win to get back on track after a couple of defeats. However it would be made more difficult with several missing players due to injury and other commitments.

The game kicked off and there was nothing much to differentiate the sides with both keepers untroubled. However in the 15th minute Carluke broke the deadlock when a long through ball saw midfielder Craig Rutherford get behind the high line set by the Easterhouse defence. He allowed the ball to bounce and cleverly noticed the onrushing Easterhouse keeper before calmy lifting the ball over his head and into the empty net. 0-1 to Carluke.

The game was getting played very much in the middle half of the park but in 32 minutes another long ball for Carluke nearly caught Easterhouse out again. This time Mark O’Reilly found top scorer Greg Miller. Unlike Rutherford earlier though rather than placing his shot he blazed it over the bar.

It was an even game and in the 37th minute Easterhouse almost got an equaliser. A run down the right by the Easterhouse right back saw him cross to the back post eluding the Carluke defence. The ball dropped to their No9 but his volley from 10 yards ballooned over the bar. This was to be the last chance of the first half.

The second half got underway with Carluke determined to keep a clean sheet and hopefully add another goal to secure the points. The second half was quite non eventful with one of only a few chances for either side falling to Josh Bell. A good cross field pass found the striker but his side foot shot was well saved by the Easterhouse keeper. Carluke nearly rued this missed opportunity when in the 80th minute Easterhoue No15 broke through on goal but his shot was well saved by the legs of stand in keeper, Liam Wilson. This was to be the last action of the game and Carluke held on to record a well deserved 1-0 victory.

This was a real battling performance by every member of the team and they limited the opposition to very few chances in the game. A great result to take to East Kilbride this Saturday for what will be another difficult game.

Final Score: Easterhouse  0 Carluke Rovers 1.
