Match Report

Carluke Rovers travelled to Kingshill Park this evening to face Forth Wanderers in the 2nd of the Clydesdale Cup semi finals. The winner would face Lesmahagow Juniors in the final at Craighead Park.

Carluke started the match with 4 trialists and a slender bench due to several injuries to key players.

With both teams struggling to get going on a lovely evening for football it was to be Carluke who had the first opportunity to score with Joshua Bell being fouled in the box and the referee pointing to the spot. It was to be a poorly hit penalty from Joshua which the keeper easily saved.

Carluke were left to rue that miss as not much later Forth took the lead from a corner and pretty quickly doubled the scoring.

Carluke gave themselves hope with an excellent strike from Michael Barton, leaving the Forth keeper no chance and bringing the Rovers back within reaching distance of Forth.

Half Time 2-1.

The second half turned into a real disappointment for the Rovers and Forth Wanderers, currently 2 leagues above the Rovers showed their quality.

A combination of good play from Forth and poor defending from the Rovers quickly seen the Rovers score a 3rd and within a few minutes a fourth.

It was proving difficult for Carluke to get back into the game and it went from bad to worse as Forth compounded Carluke’s misery by scoring another 2 before full time.

Forth Wanderers throughly deserved their 6-1 win and will visit Craighead Park to play Lesmahagow Juniors for this years Clydesdale Cup.
