Match Report

In a game played in blustery conditions Rovers put in as poor a performance as they have all season and were probably fortunate to get the point that puts them in to second place in the table.

Carluke created an early chance from a free kick then were devoid of ideas for the majority of the first half hour of the match.

The visitors did create a few openings in a three minute spell with firstly Jonny Grier playing a ball forward that was won by Craig Stark who played the ball to Ryan Smillie but his final effort was wide of the target, then Ian Watt linked up with Willie Souter who brought out a scrambled save from the Wishaw keeper before the last Rovers effort of the half came in 31 mins when Jamie Dickson set up Smillie who beat two defenders before shooting just wide.

The last effort of the half came from Wishaw in an attack down the left but Grier in the Rovers goal was equal to the finishing shot.

The second half saw Rovers continue to lack any creativity and they were lucky not to go behind early on as Wishaw created a few chances of their own.

It took until the 76th min before Carluke had another effort on goal when Watt had an effort saved then a minute later Dickson played Smillie in but his effort was also kept out.

The home side threatened the Rovers goal a few times in the closing stages as they won a series of free kicks down the left but fortunately for Carluke these all came to nothing.

Watt had a couple of breaks down the right but elected to shoot both times when a cut back may have produced better results, the poor performance was summed up in injury time when Rovers won a free kick on the edge of the Wishaw area but the kick was poor and easily cleared.
