We currently have 19 signed players with a few on the radar, looking to carry a squad of 21/22 players. I feel we need strength and depth in the squad to challenge for promotion this year. Really pleased to have retained most of last years squad but unfortunately we required to have squad members leave to allow the squad to be freshened up for the forthcoming season.
I feel we have added players who have played at a higher level and hopefully their experience and strength can boost the retained guys. It was imperative we signed another quality keeper in Craig Brown as last years player of the year Gavin McLauchlan is on placement and will not be available until September.
Stevie Murray, having plied his trade in the super league for many seasons and captaining junior giants Cumnock for 5 years will add experience, strength and leadership on the field.
Scott McGeachie has returned from our rivals Lesmahagow and he offers us flexibility for defence or midfield roles.
Our younger signing is Dean Kindlan from Overtown Thistle, I watched Dean a few times towards the end of the season and was impressed with his qualities and fitness and he was a proven goal scorer last seson.
Best not forget “Wee Chuckie” Ian Watt who we are delighted to have secured as a Rovers player after his loan spell from Queens Park last season, hopefully now he’s a married man his discipline record will improve, Danielle will keep him calm whilst his mother will still be high as a kite on the sidelines.
On the downside long serving Mark Weir has been ruled out for 4 weeks with a torn calf muscle.
