Carluke took the chance to put in this friendly match after the cancellation of Saturday’s league match and put in a fine performance to win quite comfortably in the end.
Carluke took the game to Wishaw early on and after Alberto Vezza’s good run he played the ball to Lewis McDougall but his shot was just wide of target, they did not wait long to open the scoring though as in the 6th min Jonny Wilson was stronger in a challenge with his opponent before he played a one two with Greg Fernie before firing the ball home for 1-0.
This lead was doubled with the next move of any note in 12 mins when an excellent move on the right ended with a good cross that was put back across goal by Mark Weir for Fernie to head home for 2-0.
Wishaw were being limited to long range efforts but none troubled Gordon Bruce in the Rovers goal as the half wore on.
The first half scoring was rounded off in 41 mins when Vezza again played a good ball to Wilson who hit a good shot that was well saved by the home keeper but McDougall headed home the loose ball for 3-0.
The second half saw Rovers make changes and it was one of these Peter Lynn who created the next chance with a good run on the left but his effort was well saved.
In 56 mins good build up work from Carluke ended with a Fernie shot but an excellent stop from the Wishaw keeper prevented an increase in the score.
Carluke did get a 4th goal shortly after though when great work from Watt on the right ended with him playing an excellent cut back in to the path of Wilson who placed a shot high in to the net for 4-0 to the Rovers.
Again Wishaw were being limited to long range efforts from free kicks one of which from Kindlan hit the top of the bar before going over.
The scoring was rounded off in the 67th min when Wishaw were awarded a penalty which was placed wide of Tobin in the Rovers goal for a final scoreline of 4-1.
