Match Report

Rovers played this home friendly against their opposition from the East and were on the back foot for most of the match with Forfar dictating the biggest part of the game.

The first chance fell to the visitors but a combination of a save from Jonny Grier and a clearance from Gordon Murphy kept them at bay but Rovers did not learn their lesson and allowed West End to attack through the middle to make the score 1-0 after 6 mins.

Rovers did have a rare chance a minute later when Jordan Lithgow set Ryan Smillie clear on the right but his final shot was well saved.

The same fate befell Lewis Hill in the 20th min after being set clear by a combination between Smillie and Lewis McDougall but another good save from the visiting keeper saw the chance lost.

Forfar were allowed to drive a hole through the home defence in the 23rd min to score a second goal with a neat finish from a cut back to put the score at 2-0 which held until half time.

The second half saw Rovers again slow to start and they found themselves 3-0 down after 47 mins when they lost possession in the middle of the park and Forfar made them pay dearly with another clinical finish.

The visitors made a few good chances as the game wore on and Carluke had to rely on Gordon Bruce in goal to bring off a series of excellent stops to keep them from going further behind.

Carluke had a brighter spell as the match drew to a close and got a goal in 82 mins from good work by Greig Cavanagh as his strength won him the ball an despite his parting shot being saved Ian Watt was first to react to ram the ball home for 3-1.

This mini revival was short lived however and a mix up in defence a couple of minutes later saw the scoring rounded off by an own goal from Dan Napier who headed over Bruce for a 4th West End goal to give a final score of Carluke Rovers 1 v 4 Forfar West End.
