Match Report

Carluke Rovers dismal start to the season continued with this uninspiring performance and ultimate defeat at Dunipace on Saturday.

Carluke created very few chances throughout the match and paid the price for missing what few they did create when their hosts broke in stoppage time and grabbed the only goal of a poor match.

Rovers best chance of the first half and probably of the match came in 13 mins when a free kick in to the Dunipace area found Craig Stark’s head, the flick on to Mark Haddow was then played back in to the path of Stark but his net bound effort was tipped over the bar by the home keeper.

Rovers created a half chance in the 17th min when Chick McCole set Stewart Mitchell free but his effort was easily saved.

The home side had the best of the chances in the remainder of the half but a combination of poor finishing and good work from Rovers keeper Daniel Tobin kept the scores level at the break.

Half time Dunipace 0 v 0 Carluke Rovers.

The second half started badly for Carluke when Reece Lowdon handled the ball in the penalty box at the expense of a penalty but Tobin brought off an excellent save low to his right to again keep the scores level at 0-0.

In a half of very few chances for either side Carluke did have the ball in the net in 73 mins when Greg Fernie chipped the home keeper but he had already been adjudged to be off side.

Gordon Bruce had to replace Tobin in the Rovers goal in 80 mins and he was called in to action right away and again Dunipace were kept at bay.

With the game in to stoppage time Carluke were stunned when the home side broke on the right and the move ended with a couple of efforts being blocked before a scuffed shot crept in to the net for a home winner.

Carluke Team.
