Rovers opened the scoring in the 6th min when a free kick from Mark Weir was put in to the Bon Accord net by Greg Cavanagh, but this lead did not last too long as Davy Gray gave away a penalty which was converted for 1-1 after 12 mins.
Gray almost made up for the penalty a few minutes later with a back post header after a corner but his effort was cleared off the line by the Shotts keeper.
Trialist Hardy was putting in a good shift for Rovers in the middle of the park and after winning the ball he drove towards the Shotts goal but his final effort went wide of the post.
Shotts had the best move of the first half as they cut through the Rovers defence but an excellent save from Gavin McLachlan kept the scores level.
As half time approached Rovers upped the tempo and took the lead when good work from Cavanagh set Weir free and his cross was stabbed in to the net by Darren Hamilton for 2-1 to the home side, this lead however did not last long and Shotts drew level with the last action of the half to give a half time score of 2-2.
The second half saw both teams struggle to get any tempo into the match but the home side took the lead for the third time in the game in the 63rd min when a John Kane free kick was knocked on by Mark Haddow with Hamilton reacting first and at the second attempt he knocked the ball home for 3-2.
The match then saw both sides make and squander chances before Shotts took control of the match bringing out a string of save from McLachlan and they eventually drew level in the 80th min when a loose ball was picked up in the middle of park before working another good goal for 3-3.
Rovers had chances to again take the lead the best of which saw Cavanagh hit the post and Hamilton make the visiting keeper bring off a good save before the match finally ended at 3-3.
