The home side took an early lead in this match with an excellent move when Mark Weir put a great ball down the left to find Lewis McDougall who in turn laud the ball in to the path of Ian Watt who placed a superb shot low and wide of the Gartcairn keeper for 1-0 after only 9 mins.
The old adage of being at your most vulnerable just after you have scored proved to be true for Carluke however and less than a minute later Gartcairn were level when an attempted clearance was poor and Misanjo struck home for 1-1.
Gartcairn had a chance to go in front in 18 mins but smart work from Daniel Tobin in the home goal cut out the danger.
Rovers controlled the rest of the half and looked for a penalty mid way through it when Jordan Duncan’s ball in to the opposition penalty area looked to be handled but no penalty was given.
Next up McDougall again fed strike partner Watt but a poor by his standards finish allowed an easy save for the Gartcairn keeper.
In a rare break Gartcairn hit the side netting before the last five minutes of the half produced a handful of chances for Carluke but none were taken and the half time score was Carluke Rovers 1 v 1 Gartcairn FC.
The start of the second half saw the best chance of the match when Peter Lynn’s good work on the left ended with a perfect ball across goal but McDougall opened up his foot too much and put the ball wide of target.
Watt then saw a shot deflected over the bar shortly after as the chances continued to fall to the home side, a great move through the home midfield ended with a corner in 67 mins but Mark Haddows header went just over the bar.
Carluke continued to create chances as the game came to an end but again none were taken and they slipped to another sectional league cup defeat.
On the bright side Carluke did sign three players who played a big part in the match as trialists in
Jordan Duncan(right back)
Peter Lynn(left mid)
Tobin, Duncan, Renwick, Loudon, Weir(Fernie), Wilson, McCole, Haddow, Lynn, McDougall(Stark) Watt.
