Match Report

Forth Wanderers were the visitors to the John Cummings Stadium in this pre-season friendly.

Forth came close early on and but for a decent McKay save they would have been one up.

Both teams were pretty well matched throughout this game, Carlukes biggest threat was the speedy Murray Louden up front who created several chances.

It took until the 23rd minute when Loudens persistance paid off when he sent a nice shot over the head of Bruce in the Wanderers goal.

Although several chances came along for both sides the half ended 1-0.

The Carluke Management team made several changes at half time to give several guys a run out.

Just 4 minutes into the half and Forth equalised from a corner which the Rovers defence failed to clear, the ball falling at the head of the Scott Anderson who made no mistake in his finish.

Donaghy almost pulled the home side ahead in 15 minutes as he was clear through on the advancing Bruce in goal but his lobbed shot failed to hit the target.

With about 70 minutes gone Anderson again broke through on the Rovers goal and hit a shot that McKay couldn’t deal with and Forth took the lead.

Both teams fought out the rest of the game with few chances and Forth hung on for the 2-1 victory.

A decent workout for both sides on a warm day.

Carluke now look forward to Mondays Clydesdale Cup Final at Moor Park.
